Claire is our 2021 Winner of the LT Valerie Cappelaere Delaney Memorial Scholarship valued at $5,000.00.
Claire is a seasonal park ranger with the National Park Service at the Gates of the Arctic National Park in Alaska. She is also part of the Ski Patrol at Alaska’s premier Alyeska Ski Resort. With a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Montana, Claire joined the Peace Corps for a 27-month assignment at a remote village in the Dominican Republic. She holds a Mandarin Chinese Proficiency Degree from the Beijing Language and Culture University and is also an Emergency Management Technician and Wilderness First Responder. She writes, “Seven times I have human-powered my way across the country – six times via bicycle, one time hiking the Pacific Crest Trail.” The Wings For Val Foundation is very excited to help this extreme go-getter earn a private pilot’s license so that she can achieve her goal of flying helicopters for the US Army!
